fun with sugar

mmmmk more sugar decorations! this time we did things a little different, using mostly royal icing which is made from egg whites and sugar instead of Crisco and sugar which makes them a lot easier to work with. however if they come in to contact with any oil at all ( like the icing we were using) they disintegrate. so its a little more complicated. the birds are made from color flow icing which pours like a liquid but dries hard and shiny making great decorations :-)
( eventually I'll remember to make a few bigger ones so I can take better pictures!)

nervousness

Nervousness is such a weird feeling! I haven't really been nervous in a long time but I have been lately and I have to say I don't really like it!

I am getting slightly better (though not with the whole picture taking thing, sorry) but I really need to work on the coloring and not drooping my best work on the floor.

So first off I would really like to know who thought that a history major would need an intimate knowledge of rocks! Second off, I'm really bored, any ideas?

not enough food?

As a larger women (ok not this large, I'm a size 12) I have been working on losing weight and living healthy. You know, learning how to eat right and being vigilant about exercise, I quickly learned that I could rarely eat an entire meal at a restaurant with out getting more calories than I could use in a day. This has often been blamed as one of the many reasons so many Americans are obese. Restaurants were blamed for not serving healthy food - or too much food. Now with the economic down turn and the sky rocketing food prices many restaurants are downsizing their historically large servings. yay! right? No, now people are complaining about not getting their moneys worth. WTF!?

ok yes the clowns are kind of creepy and I apparently took very poor pictures, but I'm finally doing what I've wanted to do since I was young and its not too bad. ( except those Damn roses, more pics to come)

seattle

my sister came to visit for the better part of August and my family took some time off to take a mini vacation to Seattle!

both Tom and Devon got new cameras this year and they used them to the fullest, in fact a lot of these pictures are probably theirs.

we made the most of our time staying at this amazing inn called the chambered Nautilus, visiting our favorite places, hiking and eating really good food.

So those who know me know that my mom died about a year ago. She is and will always be missed

one year: the beginning

having loved the idea of blogging for so long I've been waiting until I had a life worth blogging about. I've realized there is no time like the present ( cheesy, sorry) and I will just update as things happen.
